Since the latest models from Ram and GMC have arrived<\/a>, our product experts are asked all the time, \u2018What is the best full-size pickup truck for 2019?\u2019 That\u2019s a hard one for us because it\u2019s like picking which of our kids is our favorite. Thankfully, the automotive press is in a position to be a bit more objective, if not, outright dispassionate in their evaluations.  Motor Trend magazine has named the 2019 Ram 1500 as their current Truck of the Year, unseating the previous long-time champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

What did they love so much?<\/h3>\n\n\n
For the new model year, the design and engineering teams at Ram<\/a> threw out everything they previously thought about building pickup trucks and started with a blank piece of paper. The exterior elements are all-new, but the Motor Trend crew were quick to point out that it\u2019s still instantly recognizable as a Ram truck. On the inside, the manufacturer updated seat design, upholstery materials and available technology. One line in the publication\u2019s announcement article points out how the 2019 Ram 1500 is able to almost seamlessly transform from a work vehicle to a family-hauler.\n

Among the biggest changes that Motor Trend was enamored with was how Ram was able to shave 17 percent, or 200 pounds, from the new frame by using a new high-strength steel alloy. This change offers better ride characteristics, without compromising capability too much. In fact, a properly configured 2019 Ram 1500 has a maximum payload capacity of 2,320 pounds and a top-end towing mark of nearly 13,000 pounds. This is better than what is offered by competing platforms from Chevy and Toyota.<\/p>\n

Under the hood, Ram has implemented its eTorque technology on its V-6 and some V-8 engine options. The system is designed to take some of the strain off the engine, which will reap benefits for its impressive fuel economy scores.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n
