What are the symptoms of low transmission fluid?

The transmission fluid in your vehicle is an essential component of your vehicle. It keeps all of the parts lubricated and working together as well as cools the entire transmission system. If the transmission fluid becomes low, it could cause damage to the various parts of your vehicle. What are the symptoms of low transmission fluid? We have listed some of the indications below.

Four signs that the transmission fluid in your vehicle is low

1. Delayed Gear Engagement

If you try to put your vehicle into reverse or drive, and it takes a couple of seconds for your vehicle to do so, this is an indication of low transmission fluid. The delay happens because there is not enough pressure applied by the transmission fluid.

2. Trouble Shifting

This can be an issue in both automatic and manual vehicles. In an automatic car, the transmission can shift too fast or too slow. In a manual vehicle, you may not be able to shift into certain gears.

3. Overheating

Your vehicle needs a certain amount and type of oil to keep all of the running parts in an engine working together. The same is true for a transmission. If your vehicle is low on transmission fluid, it will cause your transmission to overheat because there is too much friction between the parts.

4. Gears Slip

A gear slip often takes the form of an increase in the RPM when you did not increase the speed of your vehicle. Low transmission fluid can contribute to not enough hydraulic pressure to keep your vehicle in the desired gear.
