How often do I need to change my transmission fluid?
It isn’t a huge mental leap to imagine that a vehicle’s transmission is made of a lot of individual parts that operate in very close quarters, producing a lot of heat. Transmission fluid keeps these parts lubricated and moving freely. However, unlike engine oil, the fluid flowing through your vehicle’s gears shouldn’t need a whole lot of attention. What is a continuously variable transmission?
Even though gas prices have been fairly low and stable for a while now, several automakers are not taking their eye off of the ball when it comes to fuel economy. There are a few fairly new technologies that have been recently implemented which have really made some major leaps in improving efficiency. The one we are concerned with today is called a continuously variable transmission or CVT. A strong case could easily be made for a transmission being the most important part of an entire vehicle.
