Curious about the diesel performance specs of the 2019 Sierra?

Does the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 come with a diesel engine?

The all-new, completely redesigned GMC Sierra 1500 has only recently arrived at the Billion Auto Group showroom and the buzz surrounding the pickup truck is palpable. Obviously, the new Sierra has been outfitted with all of the latest technology that the automaker has at its disposal – including several industry-first features like the MultiPro tailgate system. However, there is one question that keeps popping up in phone calls, texts and emails our product experts receive from customers, ‘Does the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 come with a diesel engine?’ Yes, it does. The manufacturer has announced that a turbocharged diesel engine option will be available but has been stingy to this point about the details. We might have been able to dig some of it up.

How much power does the new GMC diesel engine have?

One of the more popular automotive news and rumor sites, TheFastLaneTruck.com, managed to get it hands on some screenshots from a Canadian GM dealer site that shed some important light on the original question. It’s important to note that NOTHING OFFICIAL has come from General Motors or GMC yet about the actual diesel engine performance specs for the 2019 Sierra.

The available screenshots probably aren’t inaccurate, but also may represent a non-standard Canadian variant or something else. We’ll definitely share the official performance scores with you, one we have them.

Eventually, Billion Auto Group customers will be able to choose the GMC diesel powertrain on at least, SLE and Elevation trims. The power plant will consist of a turbocharged, 3.0-liter, inline six-cylinder engine and will be mated to the manufacturer’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

According to the information obtained by the website, diesel versions of the new truck should be able to make up to 282 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.

TheFastLaneTruck.com also reports that the 2019 GMC Sierra with the diesel engine will be able to record at least 28 miles per gallon on the highway, although official figures from the Environmental Protection Agency have also not been made public.
