The coronavirus has quickly spread across the nation. Everyone has been told to wash their hands, disinfect high-frequency areas, and practice social distancing. However, there is one more thing that we should discuss. That is how to kill the coronavirus inside of your vehicle. Even if you do not think you have been exposed, it would not be a bad idea to give your vehicle a deep clean anyway.
The do’s and don’ts of cleaning your vehicle
Here is a brief guide about the items you should and should not use inside of your vehicle. Places that should be disinfected include the steering wheel, door handles, cup holders, shift knob, lane-change indicator, and other places that are frequently touched.

Do Use
- A product that has at least 70% alcohol
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Soap and water – but put some elbow grease into it!
- Ivory soap on leather trim, then take care of it after you have cleaned it
- Laundry detergent on cloth interior fabrics
Do Not Use
- Bleach
- Ammonia-based cleaners
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Too much soap and water that the cushion gets soaked and then musty smelling down the road
