You are what you eat – If you eat or drink something that makes your stomach unhappy, getting in a car isn’t going to help. Overeating in general or loading up on rich, heavy or spicy foods are all things to avoid if you’re prone to feeling motion sickness.

Location, location, location – You might be unaffected by motion sickness in a car but getting on a plane is a different story. Travel experts say that sitting in the middle of an airplane, as close to the wings as possible, will give you the calmest flying experience. Also, sitting in the front seat of a car or SUV will help keep motion sickness at bay.

Remember to breathe – Fresh air is good for you in general. People who start to feel nausea creep up on them should open a vent or a window. Slow deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth will be the answer you’re looking for.

Stop by the pharmacy – There are a lot of over-the-counter medications available that will help prevent motion sickness. However, if you are taking any prescriptions, be sure to check with your doctor to make sure there aren’t going to be any problems. If things get too bad, your doctor may have to prescribe a prescription motion sickness medication.

Now that you know how to keep yourself healthy during a road trip, make sure your vehicle is up to the task as well. Schedule a vehicle check-up today at Billion Auto Group.
